The Firemen (USA) (Beta)
- - Matthew Callis

So here is a very expensive (over priced) demo for the US version of the Human game The Firemen. The game itself isn’t what you would think, a quick copy of the European version.

It actually looks better than the European version with a much improved font. It also has the wonderful script editing errors in tact, like the example below. Note: seen is correctly spelled but not the right word, which is scene. Game play plays the same but the dialog seems to move faster than the European version, but that might just be placebo. So if you ever wanted to play it in English on an NTSC TV for what ever reason, here’s your chance! It’s an enjoyable game with a good message, don’t burn things and / or be a fireman.

Again, I finally got an opportunity to get this up and going. And again, there’s not too many differences in Demon’s Blazon - Makai-Mura Monshou Hen sample, but they’re as the run through video didn’t work though it did with the retail version, so go forth and find them!

Here’s a title screen comparison:

I finally got an opportunity to go through and look for any differences between the Onita Atsushi FMW beta and final cart. There’s not too many differences, just two to be noticed.

  • Killer M went through a character redesign, both in the opening bio portrait and in the actual fighter sprite. In the final bio (left) portrait there is a design in the background, his brain is elevated above his head, his chest is more defined, his shoulders are the cloth of the suit, his facial expression is different and his arms are softened but still metal. In the beta bio portrait (right) its a green gradient background, his brain is attached to his helmet, his chest is softened and his shoulders are part of the robotic arms and they are bright steel.

  • Killer M’s arm was changed from a knife blade to a more human, regular robot arm.

  • One other small difference is that the intro fight scenes have different choreography. Other differences are negligible but seen through a hex compare, so they exist to some point but I haven’t found them.
